Do Dutch Citizens Need a Visa to Enter the Philippines?

Currently, Dutch citizens like most other nationals do not need a visa for short visits to the Philippines. They can remain in the country visa-free for up to 30 days at a time for either tourism, leisure, or family visits.

However, visitors from the Netherlands who wish to stay in the Philippines for more than 30 days and individuals traveling for business, studies, or immigration purposes, must obtain a valid visa before their trip.

Types of Philippines visas available from the Netherlands

The Philippines offers two different general visa categories under its Filipino visa policy:

Immigrant visas are intended for Dutch and other foreign nationals who would like to reside permanently in the Philippines.

Non-immigrant visas are suitable for any temporary stays such as transit, business, study, or employment in the Philippines. This type of visa is also necessary for Dutch tourists who wish to remain in the Philippines longer than 30 days at a time.

Philippines Visa Waiver for Dutch Nationals: Documents and Conditions Required

Dutch passport holders are required to meet certain requirements when they are applying for the Philippines visa waiver. The Filipino eTA requirements for the Netherlands include, but are not limited to:

  • Having a valid passport or another accepted, equivalent travel document issued in the Netherlands
  • Submitting a duly completed visa waiver application form
  • Having two passport-sized photos to show to the immigration official at the Philippines port of entry
  • Having either a confirmed return ticket or an onward ticket to the next destination
  • Having an unexpired debit or credit card for payment of the eTA processing fee online
  • Being able to show proof of financial means in the form of cash or a valid payment card at the Philippines border
  • Having a hotel booking for the duration of the stay in the country

The Dutch passport must be valid for at least six months after the return date from the Philippines. If the passport is about to expire, applicants from the Netherlands are required to obtain a new one and apply for an eTA to the Philippines using the new passport number.

If the passport number indicated in the application form is different from the one used to enter the country, candidates will be denied entry.

Any dual nationals must also travel to the Philippines on the same passport that they used for applying for a travel authorization.

Applying for a Philippines travel permit is an easy and straightforward process that consists of completing a Filipino visa waiver online application form, paying for the visa waiver processing fee, and submitting the form.

  • Gender
  • Date and place of birth
  • Nationality that has to be the same as the one of the passport
  • Contact details (home address, phone number, email address)

The Philippine’s electronic visas are normally issued within 3 business days if all the information entered in the application form is correct.
