The government of the Philippines is bound to introduce a Filipino electronic travel authorization (eTA) for foreign citizens who currently do not need a visa to enter the country, such as Turkish travelers.
The Philippines visa waiver is meant to facilitate the immigration procedure through a simple and fast online application form. This means that Turkish passport holders will not need to contact the Embassy of the Philippines if they would like to travel to the country.
For the time being, Turkish nationals, like citizens of most countries, can enter the Philippines visa-free for short tourist stays.
Do Turkish Citizens Need a Visa to Enter the Philippines?
Whether Turkish passport holders need a visa to enter the Philippines depends on the duration and nature of their visit.
There is no need for a visa for nationals of Turkey if:
- The stay is shorter than 30 days
- The purpose of the visit is tourism, leisure, or family visit
Turkish citizens need a visa for the Philippines if:
- Their stay is longer than 30 days
- The purpose of their travel is business, paid work, studies, medical treatment, or transit
All visas can be obtained by applying through the Philippine Embassy in Ankara.
Types of Philippines visas available from Turkey
The Philippines offers two types of visas for foreign citizens: immigrant and non-immigrant visas.
Turkish nationals who wish to become permanent residents in the country should apply for an immigrant visa.
Non-immigrant visas are issued for longer tourist visits, transit, study, or paid employment in the Philippines. If they are eligible for a non-immigrant visa, Turkish passport holders should check the list of visa types offered by the Philippine government to determine what visa is best suited for their stay.
Philippines Visa Waiver for Turkish Passport Holders: Documents and Conditions Required
Once the Philippines’ electronic travel permit for Turkish passport holders is available, candidates will need to have the following documents before starting their application process:
- A valid Turkish passport or another accepted travel document
- A debit or credit card for payment of visa fees
- An active email address for receiving information about the visa waiver application and obtaining the eTA approval
Other Philippines’ eTA requirements for Turkey include:
- Having two passport-size photos
- Presenting a printed travel authorization to the Philippines (eTA or visa waiver)
- Possessing a confirmed return ticket, a hotel booking and a school or company ID, where applicable
- Submitting proof of financial means
In order to enter the Philippines, the applicant’s Turkish passport must be valid for at least six months after the return date. Travelers from Turkey whose passport has expired or will expire soon must obtain a new one before they can apply for a Filipino eTA.
Dual nationals are required to travel to the Philippines with the same passport that they used for their eTA application.
How to Apply for a Philippines eTA From Turkey?
Applying for a Philippines travel permit from Turkey is fast and simple. It can be done from a computer, tablet, or smartphone from anywhere in the world. Candidates are not required to reside in Turkey at the time of application.
It takes only a few minutes to fill in the online application form to obtain the Philippines visa waiver. To complete the form, Turkish applicants are asked to provide the following details:
- First and last name(s)
- Place of birth
- Date of birth
- Contact information
- Passport country
- Passport number
- Passport issue date
- Passport expiry date
Candidates from Turkey must double-check all entries before applying and make sure that the provided information is correct. If there are any errors or discrepancies between the passport details and the information on the Filipino application form, the approval process may be delayed.
After they submit their application form, applicants are assigned a Unique Identification Number. For several Turkish individuals traveling together, this number is only assigned to the primary applicant.
Once the eTA to the Philippines is approved, it must be printed and presented along with the passport to the border official upon arrival.
The Philippine’s electronic visas are in the majority of cases sent to the applicant’s email address in less than three business days.
