Can I Travel to the Philippines in 2024?

Foreigners can now travel to the Philippines without any additional restrictions. This includes both vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers.

The Philippines visa exemptions have been reinstated. The Philippines visa policy means citizens of more than 150 countries can enter the Philippines visa-free, for up to 30 days in most cases.

Vaccination certificate requirement for the Philippines

Foreigners do not need a vaccination certificate to enter the Philippines. This was a previous requirement to enter the country, however this rule was removed in July 2023.

Health declaration for the Philippines

All travelers need to register with One-Stop Electronic Travel Declaration System, which replaced the One Health Pass for the Philippines. The online travel form is mandatory. It was introduced during COVID-19 and has been maintained as a general health declaration for the Philippines.

You must complete eTravel registration before entering and before exiting the Philippines. You'll be issued with a QR code or barcode which you need to travel.

General Travel Restrictions for the Philippines

The Philippines has a generous visa-free policy. Citizens of over 100 nations can spend from 14 to 59 days in the country visa-free.

To take advantage of this scheme, travelers must present:

  • Eligible passport valid for the duration of the stay
  • Evidence of onward travel, such as a flight reservation or return ticket

The Philippines will deny entry to anyone without a valid passport and transport arrangements for departing the country.

Foreigners from visa-exempt countries who wish to stay for longer than the time specified must apply for a Philippines visit visa.

Access to Boracay Island has been limited to those with a confirmed hotel booking at an accredited hotel.

Bringing money into the Philippines

Travelers to the Philippines carrying cash should be aware of the limits on importing and exporting money.

The limit for transporting the Philippines’ local currency, physically and by electronic transfer, is PHP 50,000 per person. This limit includes all legal tender Philippine notes and coins, checks, and money orders.

There are also restrictions on foreign currency. Travelers are only allowed to carry up to U.S. $10,000 (or the equivalent in any other currency).

This limit includes other checks, traveler's checks, money orders, deposit certificates, and trading orders.

Carrying more than the accepted currency limit

Travelers who wish to either enter or exit the Philippines with more than the accepted limit must obtain a letter of authorization from the BSP.

Those carrying an excess amount of money without an authorization letter are liable to have the money confiscated by the Philippine Bureau of Customs.

Those who wish to enter the Philippines with an amount exceeding the equivalent of US $10,000 are required to provide a written declaration. This form can be found on the official website of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
